Gornja Lastva Property Purchase
On 26th January 2018 I purchased another property in Montenegro and this time it was in the Tivat Municipality. It is in a village within Tivat called Gornja Lastva, which is a small Mediterranean settlement halfway up Vrmac mountain and directly above Tivat.

Gornja Lastva is an extraordinarily beautiful place with the most wonderful atmosphere and because of the positioning of the house, being right on the edge of the village, makes you completely surrounded by nature and all the wildness and sounds it has to offer.
This will be a project for the future as you can see from the photos it is a complete ruin. This is probably where I will eventually make my home as it is such a fantastic and unique location to live.

Tivat & Porto Montenegro
When I first went to Montenegro in 2006 Tivat Town was an ordinary well functioning small community serving the local people. It had some simple cafes along the waterfront, but it did not have much else to attract the foreign traveller. Tivat's fortunes were about to change dramatically with the birth of Porto Montenegro a year later.
The idea for the Porto Montenegro project started in 2004 after Canadian mogul Peter Munk (79 year old Barrick Gold founder) took a helicopter ride over the Montenegrin coastline and saw its potential. Eventually in 2007 he purchased the Arsenal shipyard (a former Yugoslav Army military base) with backing from LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault, Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska and Lord Jacob Rothschild. They created the largest private-sector investment in the country.
The London based practice Reardonsmith Architects cleverly designed the whole project including the very successful landscaping, which together makes it all work so perfectly.

Peter Munk's goal was to attract the super-rich, now bumping into one another across the Mediterranean and he succeeded as Porto Montenegro has become the best and award winning super-yacht haven along the Adriatic Coast.
In 2016, shortly before Peter Munk's death, Porto Montenegro was purchased by the investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), the principal investment arm of the Government of Dubai.

Porto Montenegro is a very attractive newly built resort that has managed to create its own charm that really works. It has a five-star hotel called The Regent that overlooks the marina, 440 residences, 450-berth marina and has 75 bars, restaurants and retail outlets.
I personally think this is the most successful of all the newly built resorts in Montenegro. It fits perfectly with the original town it is attached to and enhances it.
The rest of Tivat Municipality has always had a lot of other places to visit, such as the bird sanctuary, the Island of Flowers, pretty beaches, Tivat's naval museum and the ever changing skies caused by the many mountains in this region all make Tivat a very enjoyable place to visit.
